Deeper: The d:finitive Worship Experience Artist: Delirious? Label: Sparrow Records Date: Sep 2001 It's hard to believe that the songs sweeping today's modern worship revolution find their roots in a small town on the south coast of England. It all began in the early nineties when a few members of a small church in Littlehampton had the humble dream of their youth group encountering God through worship in a fresh and significant way. The resident worship band began writing songs that captured the spiritual hunger, passion, and honesty of responding to God. The response was immediate and profound. These songs would eventually become the new standard of worship anthems sung in churches around the world. This band would eventually become known internationally as Delirious and would begin to shape the face of what we now call "modern worship". "Right from the start," Stuart Garrard, Delirious' guitarist, explains, "there was something about Delirious that people connected with. It was an honesty, almost a naivete, and yet there was a visionary aspect to it as well--almost a prophetic kind of call to young people to open their lives to God and to live totally in Him and for Him." "A major part of what we've been about all along our journey is to see people really free and abandoned in their worship," Garrard says. "That's what we've seen across the UK and what we're seeing in the states even now. It's fantastic when we arrive somewhere and find people who are hungry to get stuck into God." Now for the first time, all of Delirious' modern worship classics are available together on one CD, Deeper: The d:finitive Worship Experience. Related Links: 'Deeper' Page |
