Matt Redman was the support at last years Christmas Show. [See: News]

A band called The Deloreans are supporting d: at this years Christmas Show. They describe themselves as a covers band.

Interesting choice of support act!  A covers band!  They look like they'll be loads of fun, actually - probably perfect for the Christmas show.  The covers they've put on their myspace are:

Signed, Sealed, Delivered
Blame It On The Boogie
THE ONE AND ONLY (CHESNEY HAWKS!!!)
Independent Woman

And they score loads of points for being called The Deloreans, and having lots of pictures taken of them with a Delorean and even dressing up like characters from Back To The Future.

Because Back To The Future is the greatest film ever, obviously.

Yes interesting choice.

Last year Matt Redman was spot on in basically leading some great worship which prepared us all for d? so a covers band provides something completely different, presuming they're not singing worship songs of course.

There's no indication on their website as to whether they are a purely secular band or a group of Christians that just enjoy playing covers, I would guess the former.

I would say the latter. I believe the band is made of individuals who are Christians. For example Steve Harding of The Deloreans was in Cathy Burton's band, amongst other things (think he also played in Tim Hughes' band when he supported d: ).

I stand corrected Dave, thanks - maybe they'll slip in some worship too then (we can but hope).

'Risky' is not really the right word here I think - 'stupid', 'dumb' or 'idiotic' maybe better.

Congratulations on 100 posts, Rob! :)

I think that "exposing oneself to extreme danger by angry d:fans ready to hang, draw, and quarter d:coverers" would be more the word, erm, sentence, erm, death sentence...

Yeah, it annoyed me at Greenbelt a couple of years ago when there was Johnny Parks, then Tim Hughes, then Matt Redman one after the other and Johnny Parks sang Matt Redman songs. Never do a cover of someone who's on straight after you

I thought Matt Redman was pretty good last year. Shame about there being no Tim Hughes but having spent a week at SoulsurvivoUr, it's no great shakes!

Heh, you mean like what Martin sang "Run To You" when they supported Bryan Adams at Hyde Park? That amused me at the time too.
