Background
'Waiting For The Summer' was released in June 2001 as the first single from the 'Audio Lessonover?' album. Shot in a London studio on 23rd March 2001, director Andy Hutch had decided to make a storyboard video based around the concept of escaping on holiday to a warmer country. Stew Smith explains: "The story line goes that five full grown men mysteriously get caught inside a suitcase and stowaway to a warmer climate. The shoot basically entailed us being cramped into a tiny box trying to play our instruments while being shaken, kicked and rocked!" A hotel room set was constructed in the studio, along with a 'suitcase' which the band would hide in. Parts of the video were also filmed with the lead actor (but without the band) at Luton Airport and in Spain.

Video Commentary
Video still: Taxi departing for the airport Video still: The band jumbled up in a suitcase Video still: Martin singing inside the suitcase Video still: Climbing out of the suitcase Video still: Delirious? performing in a hotel room Video still: The band are discovered 'Action'. The video begins through the handheld camera of the main character in the story, preparing to make his holiday video. Suddenly a strange scene appears, the five members of Delirious? lying side by side in a dark cramped confined space. Stu starts to strum on his guitar. Outside a taxi pulls up and the character grabs his suitcase and rushes to get in.

As the band are thrown around, jumbled up together playing their instruments, it becomes apparent: Delirious? are squashed into a suitcase! The Taxi pulls away while the band continue to play and sing. Driving along the motorway, a sign shows that we're heading for the airport. Inside the suitcase Delirious? continue to bounce around: Jon wears a white t-shirt with 'elvis' written across it; Martin has a top with a weird face looking out; Stu has a black and yellow striped shirt; Stew a blue and white t-shirt; and Tim has a blue denim jacket over a red shirt and a pair of sunglasses.

At the airport the character watches the departure boards, hands over his passport and checks his luggage in. As the suitcase, with Delirious? still inside, travels along a conveyor belt it passes through an X-Ray machine. The blurred image of a band playing their instruments registers on the machine's screen. The man boards an aeroplane and it takes off. On board we see him sat in his chair, drinking and laughing with his companion (who incidentally is director Andy Hutch).

The plane touches down in a foreign, warm looking country. After visiting a few tourist attractions, the traveller arrives at his hotel. Once in the hotel room the man sets his suitcase down on the floor and leaves the room. Suddenly a hand and a face emerge from the suitcase as Stew climbs out, complete with a drum, closely followed by Tim (with a keyboard), Stu (carrying a guitar) then Martin and Jon. The band arrange themselves in the hotel room, set up their instruments and start to play. Then, unexpectedly the man walks back through the door and stops in surprise at the sight of the five members of Delirious? playing and singing in his room.
