  The Longest Jump
Spare a thought for poor old Olympic champion Jonathan Edwards; he was so focused on preparations for his gold-winning jump in Sydney that when packing his bags to leave for Australia he only remembered to take one CD - Delirious' latest offering, GLO. But instead of hot-tailing down to the nearest megastore, something on the album hit the spot with Mr Edwards. Between jumps in the final stages of the Olympic competition he listened to one of the album's key tracks over and over.
"It was the song 'Everything'" says the champion and world record holder. "It captured exactly how I felt that day, particularly the lyric about how God 'gives me hope to win'." Jonathan Edwards is not the first person to pick out the track as one of the high points of the album. 'Everything' is due for release in America next month, making it the first single taken from the album. While there are no plans to do likewise with it over here in the UK, the specially commissioned video that will accompany the US release will be available as part of the forthcoming compilation of Delirious pop videos.
Called 'Pro-mod:e' the anthology is a response to a surprising piece of direct action. Over recent months the Furious offices have been inundated with requests for a collection of the band's pop videos, one or two of which seemed to receive a little less airplay than might have been hoped. 'Pro-mod:e' sorts all that out by bringing together Deeper, Promise, Sanctify (live at Wembley Stadium), Pursuit of Happiness, See The Star, It's OK, Gravity as well as the freshly filmed Everything.
Shot over a couple of days in London, the video sees a return to the director's chair of home-grown visuals man Andy Hutch. Featuring walls of fire and torrential rain, the video perfectly compliments the band's epic sound and essential themes.
Delirious have always deserved their reputation as a band who deliver the goods when playing live, and it's not just their skills as musicians that make d:gigs such experiences to remember. The whole band write, record, sing and play their songs with the 5-d experience at the front of their minds, a fact that remains equally true when in front of a live crowd or producing a pop promo. The energy and power of the songs when combined with the visual side of things produces breathtaking results, as anyone who has seen the stunning It's OK will testify. Pro-mod:e - Delirious In 5D Global Hypercolour will be released by Furious Records on Monday 4th December and will be available from Christian bookshops through Fierce Distribution Ltd.
